Malta’s first carbon-neutral garden, located on the site of a former military cemetery in Kalkara, has been transformed with cutting-edge environmental technologies. Powered by renewable energy, the garden generates its own electricity and uses rainwater for irrigation, making it self-sustaining. A million euro investment restored four reservoirs, introduced an automated irrigation system, and enhanced landscaping. New trees, shrubs, and plants were added, while solar-powered footpaths, smart benches, and bins ensure eco-friendly functionality. This innovative garden promotes sustainability and environmental awareness.
