Sustainability and innovation were recognised at JA Malta Marketplace 2026, where Project Green supported the Marketplace Green Practices Award, celebrating the teams that demonstrated the strongest commitment to environmentally responsible business practices.
The award was presented during Marketplace 2026, the flagship event of JA Malta’s Company Programme, held at the entrance of Valletta. The event brought together over 180 students from more than 30 teams, Which showcased their companies by presenting and selling their products to the public.
This year’s Green Practices Award was presented to Xuga, whose business concept stood out for its commitment to sustainability. The business focuses on transforming textile waste into unique handmade garments, promoting circular fashion whilst encouraging responsible consumption.
Additionally, each competing team were also evaluated based on how they incorporated sustainable and environmentally conscious practices within their stand setup during the event.
Head of Stakeholder management Francoise Chetcuti congratulated Xuga on their innovative business idea. “At Project Green we believe that ideas like these are pivotal in today’s market, proving that sustainable practices can lead to profitable endeavours in the market.”
JA Malta extends its sincere appreciation to Project Green for supporting the Marketplace Green Practices Award and for encouraging young entrepreneurs to embed sustainability and environmental responsibility into their ventures. Marketplace 2026 provided students with a unique opportunity to test their ideas in a real-world setting, engage directly with customers, and gain practical experience in running a business through JA Malta’s philosophy of learning by doing.
