Since the start of the initiative, vouchers for 23,000 trees have been issued

Digital vouchers to beneficiaries of the Tree Planting Initiative have continued to be issued, bringing the total number of trees for which vouchers have been issued to 23,000 trees spread over more than 250 beneficiaries.

The first beneficiaries received their vouchers and trees last month during the Family in the Park event, where 13,000 trees were distributed. In less than a month, more beneficiaries continued to join the rest of the owners and the Project Green agency, in a collective effort to plant more trees across the country.

The amount of vouchers issued so far covers 23,000 trees to 250 beneficiaries. These beneficiaries cover both the first phase of the scheme, as well as the second phase. The first phase attracted anyone who had more than one Tumolo of land and applied for more than forty-five trees, while the second phase attracted anyone who had less than one Tumolo of land and applied for less than forty-five trees. Some of the vouchers have already been redeemed from a number of suppliers partnering with Project Green and the trees were supplied. Vouchers will continue to be issued in the coming weeks.

The initiative, aimed at supporting agroforestry and climate resilience, attracted so much interest that more applications are currently being received on the website www.projectgreen.mt

A few weeks ago, those individuals who had less than one Tumolo of land and requested less than forty-five trees began to be contacted.

The trees in this initiative include both productive and non-productive trees, to ensure sustainable land use. The list of trees as well as the list of tree suppliers can also be found on the Project Green website.
