Project Green informs the public that works on the Ta’ Giorni Urban Greening Project have been suspended following a Court-issued prohibitory injunction against both Project Green and the Lands Authority.
The injunction was filed by Madliena Developments Ltd, which claims ownership of the land designated for the project. The Court has upheld the injunction pending a final decision on the ownership dispute. As a result, all work on site have been placed on hold indefinitely.
The Ta’ Giorni Regeneration Project, launched in 2024, is part of Project Green’s nationwide initiative to transform underutilized urban areas into accessible green community spaces. The project included a dynamic, accessible and aesthetically pleasing environment, promoting community engagement, recreational activities and a sense of connection with the diverse urban landscape to enhance the quality of life in one of St. Julian’s most densely built areas. Prior to the injunction, initial site preparation including hoarding and site clearance had commenced. Project Green remains committed to acting responsibly and lawfully while the judicial process continues. The agency will provide updates as new information becomes available.
