€11 million tender for Bormla green open space published by Project Green
The procurement process for the regeneration of an existing car park and the creation of a new public garden in Bormla — a project spanning 3,200 sqm — has been published by Project Green.
This marks another step forward in the sustainable transformation of urban areas across the Grand Harbour region.
Following numerous consultations, this project will transform the current open-air car park into a vibrant public green space, featuring soft landscaping, a loggia, a children’s playground, and outdoor fitness equipment. The design places a strong emphasis on the use of environmentally friendly methods and materials, ensuring that regeneration enhances both community well-being and environmental sustainability. The
land, which had previously been earmarked for a dormitory by the American University of Malta (AUM), was reclaimed by Government.
To address parking challenges in the area, the development also includes a three-level underground car park, providing modern and accessible facilities while freeing up surface spacefor public use.
Project Green CEO, Joseph Cuschieri said that works on the Bormla project are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2026, once all preparatory and contractual processes are concluded. He remarked that further to this, Project Green is implementing 17 projects across Malta and Gozo covering 130,000 sqm.
