The Quality Office for Green Open Spaces, Parks, and Gardens plays a crucial role in ensuring the maintenance and improving the quality standards within these outdoor environments. The Office is responsible for monitoring, assessing, and enforcing quality control measures to preserve the aesthetic appeal, safety, and functionality of these green spaces.
About the Role
As a Senior Professional Officer – Mechanical Engineer, your tasks will include:
- Mechanical Systems Design:
• Developing and designing mechanical systems for public park facilities, including but not limited to irrigation, lighting, water features, and waste management, including the preparation of tender documents.
• Ensuring that mechanical systems align with sustainability goals and adhere to relevant regulations and standards.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
• Working closely with landscape architects, civil engineers, and other team members to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into park designs.
• Collaborating with project managers to ensure timely and cost-effective execution of mechanical projects.
- Feasibility Studies:
• Conducting feasibility studies to assess the practicality and cost-effectiveness of proposed mechanical systems.
• Providing recommendations based on technical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of public park requirements.
- Maintenance Planning:
• Developing maintenance plans for mechanical systems to ensure long-term functionality and efficiency.
• Collaborating with maintenance teams to implement preventive maintenance strategies.
- Innovation and Research:
• Staying abreast of emerging technologies and trends in mechanical engineering, particularly those relevant to public spaces.
• Introducing innovative solutions to enhance the sustainability and user experience of public park mechanical systems.
About You
Project Green is looking for a Senior Professional Officer – Mechanical Engineer of the highest personal and professional integrity, principle, and knowledge, earning respect and support when making decisions and choices. The selected candidate needs to be a self-directed person with a strong work ethic and high expectations for performance.
The role requires the possession of a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (MQF Level 6) or an equivalent qualification as recognised by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), a valid Mechanical Engineering warrant, and at least 24 months of progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering projects.
If you are not in possession of a warrant, we are still interested in seeing you. If selected, your appointment would be subject to providing a copy of your warrant, within twelve (12) months from the date of your engagement with Project Green or proof from the ‘Bord tal-Warrant tal-Inginiera’ that you have applied for your warrant.
You will also need to be able to communicate clearly in both Maltese and English, be in possession of a clean police conduct not older than six months from the date of this application and a Driving Licence Category B.
