Ongoing works on Serenity Garden in Santa Luċija at an advanced stage
The transformation of a previously unused 2,289-square-meter area within Santa Luċija’s Chinese Garden of Serenity is advancing substantially.
Located in the Southern Harbour region, Project Green is working on a project designed to create a harmonious green space that enhances community well-being and fosters a closer connection to nature.
With an investment of over €500,000, Serenity Garden will soon offer residents a peaceful retreat, enhancing quality of life and providing a sustainable recreational area in the heart of Santa Luċija.
As with all of Project Green’s initiatives, sustainability is central to the design of Serenity Garden. The garden will feature 72 trees, covering an area of 150 square meters to provide natural shading. Additionally, 232 meters of eco-friendly pathways are being constructed, encouraging walking and cycling within the garden. Project Green has ensured that 70% of the materials used in this project are sustainably sourced, reducing environmental impact and promoting eco-conscious development.
Serenity Garden will serve approximately 2,300 households within a 10-minute walk, establishing a valuable green space in an urban setting. In addition to the trees, various shrubs and herbs will enhance local biodiversity and bring vibrant greenery to the garden. The garden will include a serene pond, a playground for children, a Greek theatre, and picnic areas, fostering an environment where visitors of all ages can relax, play, and connect with nature.
Architect Jessica Galea, who leads the project design, shared her vision for the space: “Our goal with Serenity Garden is to create a sanctuary within Santa Luċija where residents can find peace and reconnect with nature. Each element, from the shaded pathways to the pond and theatre, has been thoughtfully designed to provide a serene and inviting space that enhances the community’s connection to the natural world.”
Once completed, Serenity Garden is poised to become a cherished community space in Santa Luċija. It offers a unique blend of nature, culture, and recreation that harmoniously connects residents with their environment.
